Nala is my cross-eyed Siamese Tabby, one of my office coworkers, and also the inspiration for the character “Fizzy” in book 1: Olly & The Spores of Oak Hill.

From Olly & The Spores, page 183:
I woke Sunday morning to the sound of Fizzy running up and down the hall outside my room, sliding and bumping into the walls at each end of the hall. She wasn’t playing with a toy from what I could tell. I heard a small voice talking to her, telling her to slow down and turn this way or that. It wasn’t until Fizzy slid to a stop in my doorway that I realized where the voice was coming from.
Truffle and Magpie were mounted atop Fizzy, holding onto the fur on the nape of her neck. Somehow, they got Fizzy to allow them to ride on her, but Truffle was having a hard time getting Fizzy to follow his instructions. When they looked up and saw me poking my head out of the covers, he and Magpie waved, dismounted Fizzy, and took turns giving her a quick scratch under the chin. Fizzy rolled onto her back and seemed happy to have Truffle and Magpie as new friends.
I guess Fizzy learned her lesson from the last time she tried to eat Truffle and got a face full of puffball dust.
